LIVING INTO OUR PROMISES: Discipleship for the other six days of the week: If we believe that becoming disciples means living more Christ-like lives, we have to make a meaningful connection between our baptismal promises, our ordination promises, overall ministry, and the world where we are all called to serve. This workshop seeks to empower us, lay and ordained, in working together to live as disciples away from the weekly Sunday Church service and occasional social gatherings. The Students of Color Association (SOCA) and the Office of Admissions is sponsoring Vocations Day on Saturday, April 19. 2008, 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM in Seabury Auditorium.
It is the mission of The General Theological Seminary to educate and form leaders for the church in a changing world. Because people of color are historically underrepresented in church-wide leadership positions, we take our charge seriously to seek out, to encourage, and to involve all of God’s people in their ministries.
It is hoped that through the work of Vocations Day, participants will leave the conference with a new understanding of their spiritual gifts.
